Will the WTBS ever relax the current clothing/dress/grooming standards?
by Utopian Reformist inas numbers and meeting attendance statistics continue to decrease in western lands, do you think the wtbs may someday relax it's current clothing and grooming policies to facilitate better attendance and make the meetings more comfortable?

I think I am defintiely living proof of someone whose entire life is guided by Murphy's Law. I can't even make a move without something getting dropped, tangled up, snagged, caught on something, broken, find something missing, etc.
I can't open a door, get up from my desk, drive, anything at all. I am sick of it. -

If I truly had several hours to waste a week, I would personally enjoy visiting an unknown kingdumb hall completely dressed as controversial as possible. I think I would enjoy the silent irritation I would be causing and disrupting the congregation's control factor.
Elders know they cannot control worldly people, and also know they cannot risk offending a potentially interested one by dictating dress codes to an unknown party.
It would be a fun experiment. -

Great feedback!
I am not sure how much my opinion leans in either direction, but, like several of you mentioned, the WTBS thrives on control and isolation. Requiring adherents to appear different from the outside, but similar to fellow members does provide some extra elements of control.
I wonder to what degree would attendance have to decrease and how many complaints would it take (if anyone is complaining) before changes would even be considered?
In the U.S., the "dress down" trend is more and more prevalent and in some organizations, dress down days occur more often than just Friday. The last three organizations I have consulted for have all been casual environments.
I imagine that the legal and financial communities may never switch or relax to casual dress environments, which could explain the WTBS who is very legal and always concerned about finances. -

I can never endorse anyone becoming a JW. However, it is YOUR own decision. Now, I read this thread, but I did not see much information about your girlfriend's personality, desires, hops, etc
You did not provide a lot of detail about what BOTH of you are planning, so it's hard to give advice. I saw a lot of comments about her just "wanting an elder for a husband". Is that true,a nd how do you know?
None of us know her personally, and she very well could be one of those different sister's and wind up being the exception to the rule. Maybe she just loves you. Basically, without more information, it is hard to do other than just offer glossy superficial advice and comments. -
